Somewhere in AZ there's a road called something like dead man's last chance... I don't remember exactly what it is though...

Barbm 07-14-2010 05:13 PM

These make me laugh. Guess we don't have any fun names here. Guess I need to pay attention more.

Skunk Hill Road. In Scituate, Rhode Island (I think)

franie 07-14-2010 05:16 PM

Ok you all ready for this one? I might have to take a pic of it next time I am down there. There is a street in Homer, AK named Poop Deck! No lie!

Barbm 07-14-2010 05:19 PM

I want to name our driveway- it's 700 feet long. Maybe I can use one of these. :)

And a name for our property- it's 34 acres. After 8 years I still don't know what to name it. I call it Vern & Tim's Place- because I call hubby Tim from Tim Taylor (Home Improvement) and he calls me Vern, from the Ernest movies.

Some of these sound like good choices.....

GrammaNan 07-14-2010 05:20 PM

Let us know what you decide.

Jackass Hill Road in Denver, CO. (I kid you not)

I would not be able to buy a house on a street with a name like that. In fact, this street is in a very nice area of Denver--Ken Caryl.

Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie, NY, or Skunk Hollow Road, about 30 miles north - named, NOT after the critter, but the skunk cabbage that comes out in the swampy areas there every spring.

Hooker Ave was named after the Civil War General, whose camp followers were the origal "Hookers" - and there are some lovely Victorian houses there.

Pam 07-14-2010 05:54 PM

Our farm is A Bit of the Past. Hubby came up with that, I sure like it.

EllaBud 07-14-2010 05:54 PM

There are lots of Cemetary Roads here in Texas. Go figure.

Chocolate Moose Lane! Friends use to have a business making chocolate lollipops in the shape of a moose head from their home, so the named the street after their business. The sign kept getting stolen so they finally had it carved into a post and dug it into the ground. Still there, 5 years later.

For years there was an Alcoholics Anonymous Out Reach program that was located on the corners of Straight and Narrow Streets in Paterson, NJ.

In Little Falls, NJ there is a "Just Street". And many years ago I lived on Sleepy Hollow Road. Not so good on Halloween.

And West, Texas is actually east of central Texas, which confuses the hell out of me every time we go through. Good kolaches, though.

My parents were looking to move recently and found a great piece of land, but when they read the street sign, decided they didn't want to live on "Cyanide Road."

I grew up on "Happiness Dr." in Colorado Springs. I was pretty happy, so I guess I got blessed with a street name like that.

stpatmom 07-14-2010 07:35 PM

I live on Junk Road...........next door to the Junks!

In my home city of Crystal City, TX, we had two streets that ran north and south on each side of the railroad. One was West Zavala and the other was East Zavala.

There's an apartment building on the corner of Martha street named Stuart Arms...we laugh about this!

JoAnnGC 07-14-2010 09:21 PM

I used to work for a telephone company that served Hyden, Kentucky. Apparently in this town there is a street called "Hell for Certain Road" where several of our customers lived. One day I got up the nerve to ask one of them who called in if the road was aptly named. Without pause the lady said, "Yep, sure is, and the devil lives right next door!" That kept me laughing for the rest of the day!

I grew up in Grand Junction. We lived on F 5/8 road. Irritates my husband when I tell him. He insists you can't have a fraction of a letter of the alphabet

Here in Magna, UT our neighborhood is on the old rodeo grounds. So we have Salt Lick Circle and Tail Trail :) :)

In Chattanooga, there are several vehicle dealerships right next door to each other, on one road, which is named Test Drive.
