I think Colorado's got some issues here...when we lived in Grand Junction, Co...streets were named with fractions...we lived on F &1/4, and you'd see G &3/8...D &3/4...

Most of the Streets in MA. are named aftre towns or citys that are here. Like you can be in the town of Winthrop on Winthrop St. Or Boston St. We allso have a lot of streets named after the ocean. Like Shore Dr. ,Crest AV., Shell Rd.

In Fayetteville, WVA there is a sign right before you get to the big bridge on 19 that says....... ? with an arrow pointing to the right as you are leaving Fayetteville city limits. I always got a kick out of that.....they didnt' know what the heck was down that road. Now it has been several years since I have been up there but I bet it is still there....lol!

We have a Cotton Picking Lane in Cedar Park which is pretty funny. And Austin has Mellow Meadow Lane (I think someone was self-medicating that day) which I guess goes with Hippie Hollow Park. Most of you don't really want to visit Hippie Hollow. Austin is kind of the weird part of Texas and wants to keep it that way.

I know where that street is. It went to my grandson's high school and the church I went to when visiting. Ha!

MissM 07-16-2010 07:45 PM

I can't think of street names right now, but many years ago long before the invention of the GPS I remember getting lost and ending up in a town named Blue Eye, Arkansas. The main street in town was about 2 blocks long. Then there is Oconomowoc, WI Pronounced like "Oh cow no walk", or something like that.

How did I miss this? When I was in High School, a bunch of us friends piled into a car and decided to go find where the devil worshipers were supposed to meet. Well, we came upon a street named "Fear" out in the boonies where there weren't any street lights or houses. That did it! We started screaming and took off out of there! We had lots of fear!

Annz 07-16-2010 10:23 PM

I know I saw one but I can't remember what it was.

I have been to those towns but have a funny story about it. I had a brand new boss (man) and happened to go on vacation the following week. I phoned in to the office and was connected to him. W had a pretty poor phone connection and he asked where I was, and without thinking I replied, "in the middle of Intercourse". I immediately tried to explain that it was a town in PA, all the while stumbling over my error. We turned out to be good friends but always laughed about it.

How about Starvation Flats, in Big Bear, CA?

tiddle lane. by tiddle stream

Maksi 07-17-2010 12:20 AM

Wide road( but it was the smallest road I ever see)
The Netheralnds has some island and the biggest is Texel. There is De Cocksdorp (translation The Cocks Village) :))

Some explaination Cock is just a normal name in the Nederlands and Cock of Kok is also a normal last name in the Netherlands. It has an other meaning then in English.

A area in Lanklaar thats a place in Belgium is called Groot Homo wich means Big Gay in English.

Lneal 07-17-2010 01:48 AM

We have a road in town called, "Guntown Road" I have no idea why it is called that. Runs by our local WM store.

lass 07-17-2010 05:02 AM

Near where my nana used to lived there was a road called "Burnt Store". And yes it's because a very very long time ago there was a store there that burned down. So people would say go down to the burnt store and turn right.... well then the store distintigrated, but all knew that was where it was so eventually the highway dept put up a road sign: Burnt Store Rd.
