Wisconsin -always Wisconsin. We did over-the-road trucking and saw most states that way. If I could move, it would be to Colorado.

Mass has high taxes - if your sister is not on Medicare and is worried about health coverage, Mass has a good, very cheap health insurance plan
NH is a great state - no income and no sales tax, lots of quilters and Guilds
I know very little about RI, except that it has alot of ocean, good food and the Mafia

Here's a link to see our beautiful little town.

I could have inherited a house in Pampa but couldn't see living there....every oldie has to travel 70 miles to Amarillo for doctors and major medical stuff. I know you can see a vw bug at an intersection 30 miles away but still, it's a long drive for a sick old person.

I was born in Torrance, California. Lived in San Pedro until age 11 then moved to Mission Viejo. Married my DH and have lived several places since. Mostly in California! I am now 100 miles north of Mission Viejo.

Lynnie25 08-06-2011 01:43 PM

Born and raised in a tiny farming community in Tasmania, Australia. Moved 15 miles into town and married and have lived here all my life. Have just bought (as an investment) my retirement unit close to the shopping centre and have around 10 years to downsize my fabric stash so it will fit into the unit :) that is if I stop buying fabric NOW!

Or else there will be no room for DH :) :)

We live on a farm about two hours northwest of Toronto in Southern Ontario. I have spent all of my life in Dufferin County and will probably always live here. My children are now 5th generation on this land and don't want to farm because there is no money in farming. It is at the highest point in Southern Ontario above sea level and you can see for miles. It's beautiful rolling treed countryside.

mayme 08-06-2011 01:52 PM

Was born in Michigan and will probably die here!

cjsparks 08-06-2011 02:31 PM

I live in West Ga., Carrollton, GA., and just moved here last February. Born, raised and educated in City of Atlanta, Ga., back when the schools were 1st class and the living was safe and easy. We lived in the City of Atlanta and never locked doors and in the summer time we slept with doors open, only screens latched ! Too, my friends and I would walk several blocks away AT NIGHT to the local Miss Georgia Dairy (now that is a long time ago !). I went to elementary school, high school and Ga State University in downtown Atlanta ! Over the years I have all my children at the formerly known as Ga Baptist Hospital. Moved to Clayton County and then later to Fayette County to insure my children the best public education I could find.

I live as far away from Atlanta now as I ever have; BUT, I did spend today in the city having lunch at a landmark restaurant (Mary Mac's) and spent the rest of the day shopping.

I love the slower pace of life here in Carrollton, the absence of the traffic and the friendliness of strangers here.
We are not immune to crime here in Carrollton, but I have a general sense of overall safety.

gmaybee 08-06-2011 02:56 PM

I was born in Michigan and have lived here all except a time when I was two, until I was nine, we lived in Ohio. I've lived in the same house for 30 years. Now we would like to sell and go into a one level. Too much house and property to take care of. We'll stay in this area if we ever do leave this house.

Barbm 08-06-2011 03:24 PM

Live 2 miles from where I grew up- NE PA. I would leave in a blink of an eye to VA. I do not like cold and snow and it can't be hot enough for me. Hubby loves it here, but then he was a city boy.

Wanabee Quiltin 08-06-2011 03:50 PM

I was born and raised in a St.Louis suburb, Granite City, Illinois. The muddy Mississippi is home to me. Have lived in Alexandra, VA and then clear across the country in Idaho Falls Idaho. I was so glad to come home after 8 years away, I absolutely love this area. Have been in all 50 states and many countries but home is best for me. I know exactly where Dexter, MO is and have been there. Used to work with a gal from there also. Remember chiggers ?

I am from the Philippines and have lived in the US for 45 some years. We lived in the Bay Area for many years and decided to move to Vancouver, Washington. I worked for the Clark County Health Dept for 19 years and recently just retired. I love staying home with my husband who is also retired. I have a detached shop at the back of our house where I do my quilting. He is going to make an addition to the shop to accomodate the long arm machine he got me as a gift for retirement. I am so blessed and I thank God for everything I have.

We also feel that way about the house that was orginally owned by my material grandparents back in Brooklyn, in a few years it will have been in the family for 100 years. After my grandparents died ownship passed to their son, my Uncle Tony, and now it belongs to one of his daughters and her DH. We were all upset when our his daughter, my cousin, said that they may be selling the 'family homestead' as her DH has retired and wants to move out of state.

May, Now that they are talking about raising the bridge tolls again, you may not be so interested in going back to B'lyn so often! $12 for the Outerbridge and $12 for the Verrazano?? Can you afford to go home again?? Crazy stuff...

Grew up in Caddo Mills, Tx.

Gatormom3 08-06-2011 06:39 PM

I grew up in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We moved to Key West when first married, then out to Louisiana for 4 years, back to southeast Florida for the last 38 years and now are fortunate to live part of the year in the mountains of North Carolina. The hardest part of living in two places is transporting my quilting!!
