50's today, the weeds are growing...ugh
|
This winter won't end! Last winter was long, with lots of snow, but this year seems worse. Maybe because I am getting older it bothers me more. Of course, we have lots of gusty wind too.
|
In the south, we are glad to see some cold weather to keep the mosquitoes down for a few days.

I think it started earlier than ever! Let's hope it ends early, too! We're returning to CT at the end of March, and the friend who keeps an eye on our house doesn't think the driveway will melt till August!
Week before last, in Tucson, we had record-setting freezes - which froze many city water pipes. Many houses have water pipes on the OUTSIDE of the houses - cheaper and faster to build, and 'the temps are NEVER below 32 long enough to freeze them.' To top that off, many people were without gas for heat or cooking and had to move in with friends or to shelters. The plumbers answer machines filled up pretty doggone fast! We were lucky - no frozen pipes. Several years ago, DH built a box around the water pipes where they come out of the ground, and he triple-insulated them 'just in case.' Our next-door neighbor, is originally from Buffalo, NY, but he thought frozen pipes were in his PAST - yup, he has leaky pipes. By the time he got to the plumbing supply store, the parts he needed were sold out. Fortunately, his leaks were not too bad, so he and DH got to work with Duct Tape - and it worked! The parts he needs should be here in a day or 2. |
Probably because it has....
If it's not one thing it's another and when multiple downers hit at the same time everything looks even worse. Just look forward to the day when you can say...."remember when...." |
We actually got up in the seventies today. It's been soooo cold here. Hard freezes at night and we're not used to that.
|
It was 19 degrees and will warm up to maybe 30. Tomorrow night will be down to 5 degrees. Spring is almost here, I can feel it!
|
We had cold and snow rough days but were shocked to have 70 degrees out yesterday. It was so nice. I am ready for Spring. I sat on our swing after I filled all the bird feeders and just sat and watched the cardinals, bluebirds and others. Also was nice to open doors and window for fresh air.

For me personally I think I'm just getting old(er)! I used to love winter,...now I could truly live without it.
