My hub does his own ironing and then asks if have anything I want ironed. I am lucky!

when hubby's office (local sheriff) mandated pressed "hard seams" in the shirts and pants, i gifted him with his own iron and ironing board for his birthday. it was a pain for him--but hey, i work full time, too! since he retired, the ironing board has moved into my sewing room, and his iron moved into his woodshop, for ironing on edging and veneers...

It must have to do with motivation.

I know what you mean. I feel that way about sewing clothing. I usually just say no, however, my land lady asked me to make a couple of dresses in exchange for part of the rent. I can't turn down that deal. I hope the patterns aren't too difficult. I remember how to put in a zipper but I'm not sure about buttonholes.

Because you are doing something you love, so it's not work. In fact last night I spent about 2 hours pressing the half-square triangles that I had sewn for the family reunion quilt that has to be done before the end of the month. I try not to iron clothes if I can help it. Ironing fabric is relaxing to me, as I can get the ironing board out, turn on a show on TV or a moving and before I know it, the stack of fabric is done, plus everything is one piece, no sleeves, no tucks, etc.

Before my husban died and my son was still at home, I took great satisfaction when they left the house in starched & ironed shirts/pants. They looked soooo good. I did some ironing for my pastor & his wife for a while - felt the same way when they showed up at church all spiffy & ironed.

My husband use to wear white shirts to work many years ago. One day I spent most of the day ironing those darn white shirts got all done but two of them. The next day my husband wanted of the the shirts that I didn't iron and got mad that it wasn't ironed. Told him that if he wanted that one to iron it himself and then told him he could start ironing all of them. Guess who took them to someone who did ironing in her home and had to pay her to do it. Never ironed a white shirt after that day.

Beats me. I have a stack waiting to be ironed, waiting, waiting, waiting.............
