No. I just don't find them attractive. On anyone, at any age. My son went to a lot of trouble to design his own Celtic 'bracelet' around his upper arm. To him a month or so before he told me. I guess it is a kind of jewelry these days, but I grew up hearing that only 'bad people' got them, which of course is not true, but I have to work very hard (and I do) to ignore that voice. I do not like the permanency part, not because of age, but just that I would get tired of it at some point. And it's not a sin - I just don't care for tattoos, or scarring, as some of the native African people do. I don't see how inflicting pain to the point of passing out makes anyone a better person.

To the person whose uncle was tortured and shunned, you have my sympathies for people's deep unkindness and cruelty.

Never will have a tatoo. I don't want an ugly tatoo on my body when I grow up (notice, I didn't say OLD)

What a lively discussion...thanks for this topic as this is fun to read everyone's comments. I did do the Born to Quilt temporay tat and that was fun for a week but would not do it forever. But the Longarm one sounded really funny and true...LOL!!

None for me.. too chicken and just no desire for one.

My son-in-law has a few - he's a Marine and seems like many of them get them after they survive boot camp. He has a bulldog on each shoulder blade and USMC in between. He said he could choose who saw them this way. But .. last year he added three dolphins on his upper arm - they represent himself, his wife, and their son. Guess if they have another child he'll add another dolphin?

My daughter has the same tattoo between her shoulder blades. She's talked about getting one since she was 16 and she's 28 now. She had mentioned getting something to represent her family, but I was a bit surprised when she actually did it.

I always wanted to get a battleship tattooed on my chest.. that way I could watch it sink as I grew older...

Are you kidding? It took me 31 years to get up the courage to get my ears pierced!

Just what do you consider older? I am in my fifties and have several and plan to get more. At what age do you suggest I stop? I am thinking when I am dead might be a good time to quit...

Now that is a wonderful tribute to you! My first husband had a woman's name on his arm. He had it blacked out and had my name put on his arm. I have often wondered over the years just how many "stripes" his arm has now?

My husband has a tattoo of a woman on his shoulder - she is me, and if I ever got another tattoo it would be something representative of him- but I don't like names. And at this point I figure even if we did split up - we have spent half our lives together and had 2 children - he will always be a part of my life/past.
