This from that wise old sage Maxine:

"Do you realize that in about forty years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos and pierced navels?" (Now that's scary!)[/quote]

I got my first tattoo when I was 32. My father was fine with it but my BFF's father had a fit. He asked me "What are you going to do when you are 80 and in a nursing home?" My reply was that I would be an 80 yo woman in a nursing home with a tattoo!

I too have worked as a nurse in a nursing home and no, tattoos don't age well. I don't really think having a tattoo is about how it will look when you are old. It is an expression of the individual and what does it really matter what a tattoo looks like when you are old. Some people don't age well either!!!

I want a turtle(s) tatoo.

No, they can look cute when they are new but as you age and gain weight cute things can stretch out of shape.

One of my girlfriends threatened to hurt someone in delivery when they commented on her cute whale she had on her stomach. It was started out as a dolphin.

No way! If I ever considered one it would be of the quilting variety.

I just checked the red cross site about blood donations after tattoos, looks like it's state by state:

Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This requirement is related to concerns about hepatitis. Learn more about hepatitis and blood donation.

Acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile needles and ink that is not reused. There are 32 states that currently regulate tattoo facilities. You should discuss your particular situation with the health historian at the time of donation.

I just teasingly asked my husband if I should get the tattoo of the sewing machine on my boob even though it would stretch as I get older. He said, "Well, you did want a long arm quilter." HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

didn't know that! Well, that's it... no tattoo for me. :-(

After reading so many comments about the aging process, I remember seeing a funny birthday card once where two old geezers were examining and trying to remember what their tattoos were...
