I bought a 300 page quilting ebook today. The price was too good, $5, and the patterns looked enticing! I would love to print it, so I can thumb through it. It has applique templates for some of the patterns too.

Does anyone print off entire ebooks? I'm guessing that would use a lot of ink?

Well, 300 pages is more than half a ream of paper (500 pages) if that gives you an idea of the size. We have a basic black home laser printer and 300 pages isn't bad for it. If you have a color printer (even if you print with black) that's probably a lot of usage for a single run. Also the print speed for some home printers may mean hours of supervision...

This printer has held up and lasted better and longer than I ever thought it would, it is a Brother HL 5140 that cost about the same (it was a return at Fry's) as the replacement ink for the color ink jet we had at the time (think it was about $100). When/if it ever goes I'd like to get the home office center sort where it can scan and copy and such as well. It would be nice to be able to print in color.

I save them to either my kindle or iBook and print off some patterns or templates- only pages I need. I can pull them up, read and browse anytime I want. I can’t imagine printing off a 300 page ebook. I buy ebooks so I don’t have it in print, only have the parts I need

I would try very hard to get a printed book.

I have many books I bought years ago thinking I would use them. Now they are just more 'stuff'.

Wow! Print off 300 pages on a regular home printer? I used to work at a professional print shop and that wouldn't be a problem for a commercial printer. You could do it if you have a laser printer, but that means no pretty color photos. Why not be selective and just copy the pages you need instead of the whole thing? Also, what are the copyright laws concerning eBooks?

Printing off that many pages is going to run into some serious expense. I hardly print any patterns anymore. Instead I bring my laptop to my worktable and work the pattern off the computer. It works for me!

I think I'll just print off patterns as I need them. It does make more sense. I guess I'm still a hardcopy type person. I like things in my hands, and being able to dogear pages.

SBG, I bought this book from Annie's catalog https://www.anniescatalog.com/detail...52&cat_id=1422 . I got an emailed 50% off coupon today. I thought for the size of the book, $5 was a good deal. I believe it's out of print. Now looking at it, I see a lot of templates being used, so I would have to adapt some for rotary cutters.

I like to make notes on my patterns so I usually print them. When I work from the iPad I find myself doing the same calculations over again because I couldn’t note it on the e-pattern.

I have large patterns printed at office depot. I am sure they could do books but they charge like .12 a sheet.

I save my ebooks to my computer and copy to a cd ,and just print out what I want at the time.
