When I was married in 1970, many of the gifts we received were from the stamp redemption stores. For one filled book of stamps (which was worth about $3) you could get a set of three Texasware mixing bowls, or a yellow oval pyrex with a cover, or a Corningware covered casserole. I got all three at a bridal shower! They are all still in use today . Only the ccorningware goes in the microwave or dishwasher, but the blue flowers on the side are as bright as the day they were new. Guess the older stuff was meant to last, unlike today's.

My mother had the full set when I was a child but the red one broke at some point. After I married I bought a set of my own and don't you know, I broke the red one somehow. I still have and use the others in the set.

I also have several pieces of corning ware from the early 60's and still use them too. They have a handle that comes off and can be used on 3 pieces I have, a fry pan and two sauce pans. Wish they still made them as you can use them as pans or baking dishes.

I love that bowl!!
My Mom made us popcorn every Friday night and served it in that bowl.
It's still there but I found one for me at a garage sale years ago. Love it!

I don't have those bowls, but I'll tell you - go to any area flea/antique market in our area and there is sure to be a couple of booths that feature Pyrex and Corning ware from those popular areas as well as Tupperware from the 70's …. nostalgia can be pricey though based on their prices.
My daughter collects jade ware I think she calls it - that milky green stuff....

I’ve had my set of 12 everyday ivory & blue Corelle for 35 years - I like it because it’s light on the dishwasher racks. I’d give them up in a heartbeat if I could find reproduction jade ware. There are pieces available (bowls, spice shakers) but I don’t think they are remaking jade dinnerware.

I have set of the bright red exterior with cream interior Corelle mixing bowls. They are thick and heavy. I love them. I also have a few old Corning with blue flowers casseroles of different sizes. I buy dishes by the piece when I see a color or pattern I like.

I honestly can't remember what type of mixing or serving bowls my mother or grandmothers used. When I grew up the kids were shooed out of the kitchen when they were cooking. The food was put on our plates and brought to the table. Christmas and other holidays the food was set on the table. I never cooked a complete meal until I was married.

I have my Mom's set of Pyrex mixing bowls from when she got married in 1948. All are there--I only handwash and never use in oven or microwave--don't want to scratch that paint! I also have an almost full set of the rectangle Pyrex casseroles with the clear glass tops that were my Mom's too--I remember she made yellow in the larger yellow one. A friend that sells antiques says both sets are collectible and sell for a higher price than they did originally!

I have some Corelle and I love it because it's so light and easy to keep clean too.
I don't think I can tell my daughter about the dinnerware though lol, she's already on the prowl for the side pieces like bowls etc...lol,,,,

I received a 3-piece nesting set for my bridal shower 55 years ago and still use it a lot. The set is white with blue design on.
