I had lumpy boobies - cystic disease, before menopause. Every year it was the same routine, mammo, second one, sonogram and biopsy. I cried each and every time! Its a frightening thing.

I don't think we can prepare ourselves to the point of being calm about it. After five years/five times, you'd think I would just say ok here we go again. But nope, I was scared each time.

I'll say a wee prayer asking for strength until this is done and wisdom for your Dr.

The doctor once did not like the look of a lump and opted to do a lumpectomy and then biopsy the lump. They put me out and I was groggy that whole day, but just fine the next. I am not sure how just a biopsy goes, but the lumpectomy was pretty much nothing, and I was so happy the lump was gone! It was not normal but was not cancer. Lucky me!

I have had eight biopsies in the last 24 years. I always get a call to come in the next morning for the biopsy. Have had premalignancy many times but they have always gotten it in time.

This is not how an older friend (who should know better) described it to me. She painted quite a horror story. Thanks for the offer - I may take you may be hearing from me.

What's "funny" is that my left breast is full of fibrocystic stuff - I thought for sure that's where the problem was. But it's not - it's the other side.
