GemRM ... I've never been to the Painted Cardinal ... do tell me about it!

Hobby Horse was one I was thinking about, if they wanted to get off the bigger highways!

There is an awesome quilt shop just outside of Niagara Falls in a little place called Fonthill & it's call The Quilting Bee & definitely worth the trip. If you go straight out Lundy's Lane (very busy tourist area where a lot of the hotels are) Fonthill is only about a 15 minute drive. DEFINITELY get to Niagara on the Lake, it is a very quaint, very Victorian little village, again only about 10 minutes from Niagara. BEAUTIFUL, VINTAGE hotels there. Worth just going in to take a look at how the rich & famous live. One is called the Prince of Wales & if you google vintage hotels in Niagara on the Lake, their names will show up & you can do a bit of a virtual tour. MUCH to see & do in the Niagara area. LOTS of wine tours so enjoy yourself. You won't have enough time to do everything that you will probably want to do. I was born & raised there but moved away when my hubby took a job in Northern Ontario.

CAllen ... ITA ... It is, or perhaps I should say was an awesome place. I didn't mention it, as it is either closed now, or close to it. When I was there for RxR last year, the news was already out that it was going. They tried to sell it as a going concern, but let it be known, if no buyer, it was going to be closed. Apparently it didn't sell, so they have been having sales for sometime, and I think they were planning to be closed before July 1st. Sadly it is history ...... or close to it.

The Quilting Bee has changed to a long arm/sewing machine only shop, I think tomorrow is the last day of their fabric sell off.....

Sorry I got the name twisted, it's "Quilted Cardinal". Here is a link to their website:

    http://www.thequiltedcardinal.ca/about/

I was there shortly after they opened and the folks were really friendly, the fabrics were wonderful, and at that time, the prices were reasonable too. I haven't had an opportunity to return as it's about 2 hours from home and not on my regular "touring around" routes....

QuiteE - many, many thanks for all you time and explanation!! I'm going to study all the info you've given me and come up with a game plan. We are flying in and renting a car, we'll have 6 days total. You have definitely provided enough info to keep us busy for the entire trip!!

    You're most welcome!

We have a wonderful province here, and I love to show it off to others.
So if you have any other questions, please be sure to ask!

Bon Voyage ... and enjoy your time here in Ontario!
