I am getting to that time of year when I hate cleaning. For the past month, after the holiday, I cleaned and dusted quite a bit. As the winter continues I start feeling like it is pointless. The first day I can open the windows I know I will launch back into cleaning mode. Some how I feel like the dust I am moving around in the house will magically know to go out the windows.
Right now, with the heat on, and the windows closed I feel like any dust I move in one room just ends up in another. I think I will quote Taylorgram's mom from now on. She sounds like a good person to emulate!

I have a friend with a big house, 3 home based businesses, 3 hunting dogs, a cat & one husband who's always worried about her house not being clean enough when I visit. I always tell her that I am visiting her, not her house, but if I do decide to visit the house vs her then I'll make an appointment so she can hire a cleaning crew to do the entire house before I come to visit. She is a magnificent, vibrant woman but her house is a bit messy. Who cares? Not me cuz I'm visiting her, her hubby and her critters and not her house.

i dont think anyone cleans like they use to. but my theory is the house will be there and i wont. so clean, quilt, clean, quilt. you can leave it on your table and just go back to it in between running the washing machine for those curtains. have fun. life is too short.

My housekeeping definitely has taken a back seat, I am now 71, and my life road is getting shorter and I have decided to not be so bothered by "chores" and what I "have to do" and tend to focus more on my quilting and what gives me pleasure to do. I am busy all the time.. I have many things I like to do..fine crochet work that I love doing..enjoying a good book..the one thing I absolutely love to do is drawing and painting with pastels and that's something I do not let myself do because if I do start.. time absolutely stands still and hours go by..I guess I expect all control will be lost at that point but somehow I have to fit it in. I still do longarm quilting for customers so I do have to keep up with that as well..where oh where did spare time go????

I am far from a minimalist, but I like a clean house and a nice garden....pleases me, relaxes me, then I can take a break and quilt. Sure I wish I had more time for quilting, but I just can't stand a dirty house.
