    Red Riding Hood Doll Finished!

I just finished this doll for my daughter's birthday this coming weekend. It is the most complex and hardest toy I have ever made (and I've made a bunch!). The pattern is by British toy designer Alan Dart.

My daughter danced the part of Red Riding Hood in the Sleeping Beauty Ballet that Ballet Mississippi performed. She was about 16 years old. I designed and made her costume, and that of the wolf and the cats. It was a grand performance and my favorite part that she ever danced. I've always wanted to make her a doll to commemorate it. Now she's turning 33 and will finally get her doll.

Wow, you could do a video on the entire event. Would Ballet Mississippi have any footage of her dancing? What ever happened to the wolf and cats costumes? Sounds like something we would all enjoy seeing. Your talent never ceases to amaze me. Everything you do is spectacular. I'm particularly glad to have you on this board.

Wow! So very impressed! This doll has expression......from knitting! She is adorable. Love her little shoes, her cape, her stockings, her pigtails -- everything about her. What a wonderful thing you've done. Your daughter will cry, I can almost guarantee it!

Thank you, Battle Axe! I took video of the ballet and of the rehearsals, but I have no idea what kind of shape they are in now. That was 18 years ago. The costumes all belong to the ballet company. By now, they have probably moved on to newer costumes, as with all the nutcracker costumes I made.

Our ballet years were special and something we did as a family. My two sons both danced too. I was costume mistress for a number of years.
