You bought the kit. You can do it anyway you want. I have put the pre-printed fabric for embroidery in a copy machine on photo print and copied a pattern before I embroidered it. That way I could use the pattern again.

For this one I traced the pattern onto a WOW print for a more interesting and older look. I'm toying with velvet for the back and cording.
You can do anything with patterns but the gal who said to make a copy before you work it was absolutely on target!

My philosophy is that just as there are no quilt police, there are no embroidery police! I have done lots of redwork patterns in other colors such as all black, all blue, etc. I have also done a pattern in multiple colors. Just follow your whimsey!

I think it will be beautiful. I took the Holiday redwork pattern, and did it in applique and embroidery and it turned out really cute! We all need to step outside of the box sometimes.
