You bought the kit. You can do it anyway you want. I have put the pre-printed fabric for embroidery in a copy machine on photo print and copied a pattern before I embroidered it. That way I could use the pattern again.

Quote: I did some "redwork" in colors and love it. Go for it. you're aiming to make yourself happy, not make the quilt police happy.
I also have done some of my redwork in colors. Do whatever you want to. Nothing is written in stone.

For this one I traced the pattern onto a WOW print for a more interesting and older look. I'm toying with velvet for the back and cording.
You can do anything with patterns but the gal who said to make a copy before you work it was absolutely on target!

My philosophy is that just as there are no quilt police, there are no embroidery police! I have done lots of redwork patterns in other colors such as all black, all blue, etc. I have also done a pattern in multiple colors. Just follow your whimsey!

It is lovely in red, but would look nice in any color or colors you would chose.

I think it will be beautiful. I took the Holiday redwork pattern, and did it in applique and embroidery and it turned out really cute! We all need to step outside of the box sometimes.
