Thanks, these old pics, especially of them in uniform are wonderful. I don't think the young generations of today could ever imagine (or being able to go thru) going thru what even the people at home did. I REMEMBER ration stamps, what was a REAL shortage of gas, only a radio (if you were lucky) NO TVS, etc, etc. My mom drove a dump truck working for the govt. on a military base in San Diego (& at that time, women DID NOT DO THAT TYPE OF WORK - not liberated yet).

The present generations are SPOILED - including myself, & I APPRECIATE every one the so-called 'necessary' items I have now.

What a wonderful part of both your parents. you need to enclose a note inside explaining everything for future generations.

Thanks munchkin - that is a great idea. My dgtr does know he made this while on board ship, but maybe not all the details. I will definitely put some info in it.
