I have the Janome Memory Craft 8200 and love it. The throat space is 11". But it costs much less than the 11000 (obviously has many fewer features). Have you test driven the 11000 with all the types of fabrics you normally sew? I'd do that and see if it's as intuitive and as powerful as what you're used to. I've never used a Pfaff so I couldn't tell ya.

For the price you are willing to go up to you have lots of options. I used to want a Janome, I think it was because of all of the beautiful pictures of projects they used to have in magazines. I bought a Ruby Viking first, (for high end machine) and loved it, so easy to use with no problems. Then a year later I traded it in for the Diamond Deluxe and I also love it. I also have a NQ3500D Brother and its a good machine. I've read the reviews here on Janome and they are all over the place. My suggestion is that if you have dealers in your area, check them out. I'm not sure where you live but if there is an event in your area that is the best place to try and buy a machine. Like here we have another event in January..My two Vikings were used, one had 7 hours on in and the other 1min. I saved thousands of dollars on them and got a great warranty. Check to see what all is out there and what all features are available. Right now if I could afford to buy another it would be Brother Dreamweaver or the sister Babylock that scans, etc, same as Dreamweaver. Good luck, its such a big decision.

Do you have a pattern for this quilt? My son is a FF & I'm collecting fabric to put something fun together...

Check out the Pfaff Performance 5.2. I have the older version 5.0 but looking forward to trading up eventually. My very first machine was and still is a mechanical Pfaff 262 from the late 60's. My first embroidery machine was a Pfaff 2170 and still have it too. A little outdated for an embroidery machine but still a great machine. Al so have another mechanical Pfaff, the 130. Love to FMQ on that machine but when it comes to bigger quilts I use my latest embroidery/sewing machines. I had a Viking Diamond Deluxe which later on traded for the newest, Viking Diamond Royale. Had it for 3 years, and now have traded it in for the Viking Epic. My dealer sells Pfaff and Viking both, plus Brother. Was in the store yesterday. Both brands have embroidery machines in all price ranges, and yes, IDT on Pfaff is such a plus. If I were you I would test drive many before making a decision. Same dealer use to sell Janome, but discontinued doing so.

I have the Janome 11000se and I love it. But I have a great dealer that is willing to work with me on repairs...it is very user friendly and I didn't have any problem learning machine embroidery with it. The 11000se is considered to be one of the workhorses of the Janome line with very few problems but yearly maintenance is necessary. I put many hours a day on mine!

I have Janome machines, love them all...6600, 8900, Skyline 7 and the 11,000SE. Do you want an embroidery machine or a great sewing/quilting machine? The 11000 is a great embroidry and sewing machine. The sewing part is sooooo quiet, but so is my 8900. The 8900 is a great quilting machine. I used to get eyelashes FMQ on another brand machine, took the 8900 out of the box, set the settings for FMQ, didn't even change the needle to my usual 90/14 topstitch, the FMQ was perfect...no eyelashes on the back. If you want a combo Machine, the Janome 11000 is greāt. PM me for exchange of info and pricing on the 11000.
