I have new kitchen cabinets as part of the repairs since our home flooded during Hurricane Harvey 11 months ago. Do you use shelf liner or not and if so, what kind do you like? I hope to finally be able to move back in before long and need to decide. I am pretty sure I don't want to stick down contact paper, but am uncertain from there.

I buy some white padded stuff from the big box stores like WalMart, Lowes or Home Depot. It doesn’t have any sticky back but the plastic clings and is easy to clean.

​I don't use shelf liner but I do have the stacking things that allow me to hand cups and stack plates in my main sections.

I use to use shelf paper but I converted to disposable dishes for 95% of our meals so I don't see the need anymore. I keep my cooking/baking things in large baskets that fit in the lower cabinets. Easy to remove the filled baskets and clean when needed.

I like liner of some sort as it prevents staining of the wood and is easier to clean. Can pull out crumbs or whatever contained in the liner. I've used paper but my real choice is the vinyl shelf liner. It stays put but isn't stuck down like Contact paper and is easier to handle in the application.

When we remodeled the kitchen 9 years ago I purchased LifeLiner shelf liner. It still looks like new. I purchased it from Bed Bath & Beyond, but I've seen it elsewhere.

It's a clear plastic liner with ribs so glasses and cups don't stick, easy to cut with scissors or craft knife (or a rotary cutter with an old blade). So easy to clean as well. I believe it comes in 2 widths.

I use the LifeLiner also. I cut it to fit the drawers or shelves exactly. It stays in place nicely and prevents wear and tear on the wood of the shelves or drawers and spills (they do occasionally happen) wipe up easily. The dust wipes up easily also. I wouldn't think of not lining shelves or drawers.

I use peel and stick vinyl flooring tiles for shelf liners. It took me some time to get all my cupboards done. Some of them have been done for about 16 years, and they are still in great shape, and so easy to clean.
