I made a quilt as a shower gift for someone and years later when visiting her home to see her new baby, guess who way laying on the quilt?

If you though the new baby you're wrong, it was her german shepherd, as the quilt was lining the dog bed.

Last quilt I have every made for someone who doesn't understand the time & work that goes into them. Did I mention that the quilt was totally needle turned applique and hand quilted!

My first quilt was a king sized sampler, completely hand quilted.
My husband is using it out in the shed to cover his wood chipper. When I discovered it, it was already too damaged to rescue. So I never said a word. Since then he has seen how much time it takes to make a quilt. I doubt he'd ever do it again. And I doubt that I'd be silent if he dared. It's a good thing I love him so much.

Good idea to call the POA and ask if you can have it. I hope you can rescue this quilt.

Edited: A friend of my husband's used his Grandmother's quilt to cover his lawnmower that was outside! I told him his Grandmother spent a lot of time on it and to please get it indoors right away and he did. Now he has a better appreciation of quilts and the work involved.

You certainly are a loving wife. I think I need to take a lesson because I sure would have said something.

Now, as an ethical Realtor, there was nothing I could do....funny though, the client said to me....."you truely are a quilter , I am looking at the garage doors and you are looking at fabric." Highest compliment I have ever received. I am tempted to call the POA and ask if I can have that pile of "rags" in the corner.
I would definitely call!

what is the point of using a quilt to cover a wood pile or a lawnmower outside anyway? Last time I checked, quilts are not waterproof.

I would call them. Couldn't hurt, and maybe you could repair the quilt or just display the undamaged parts... Hurts your heart when people just don't understand or care about all the work/love put into our quilts.

Who can begin to understand this? I'm just glad I converted him. Now when him & his wife are out antiquing (spelled right?) he e-mails me pictures of vintage sewing machines. He's come a long way. He committed this quilt crime 14 years ago and has changed his evil ways. :-D

Could you go buy a new blue tarp? I spent $4.95 on a huge one at Grocery Outlet. Offer to make a trade.
