    Silk tie pillows

I've been collecting silk ties for a long time and had some that were pretty special -- belonged to a gentleman I used to take care of-- he passed away, his wife (for 68 years) sure misses him. Her birthday is the end of the month, I used his ties to make her pillow for her birthday.

My idea, for making them, just ( winged it, without knowing what I was going to do) the woven one I started with a piece of batting, then a background fabric on top of that, then I laid out ties horizontally, pinning both ends, wove the vertical ties, pinning each end. Then I took it to the machine & stitched all the way around.

What a wonderful gift. Each night she can wrap her arms around the pillow made from his ties and it will offer her comfort. Blessings for your thoughtfulness!

A special remembrance for someone who loved a special person. It will evoke special memories for sure. It is a nice use of ties. I like your ideas.

Those are awesome! Wish I'd had a thought of doing something like that when my dad passed. I have nothing of his as my mother was in a hurry to dispose of all his clothing. These would be a terrific comfort. Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE the second pillow. To me it looks like that tacky tie that most men have that they only wear for special occasions and that everyone remembers. Looks like lots of happy memories over THAT tie!
