thankfully I can call in and use a vacation day, so I don't have to commute (43 miles) in this mess. So I'll be getting paid to sew...wow, I guess I never thought of it that way...lol.

My sister lives in Ca. Maybe I should be visiting her right now!!! We went there this summer and it was so hot. I couldn't believe it....and windy. I thought my sisters kid was going to blow away.
I bet she live inland or the desert where the weather is more severe!
In the desert. It's funny because we were there and she was driving us around and we kept seeing Mojave desert everything. We asked her if she lived in the desert and she just shrugged her shoulders and said I don't know. That was it...she didn't care. I thought it was neat. I've never been too far away from the areas I lives and never to California. They don't have trees(????)...couldn't believe it. It was a neat experience though.

That's good. I have to give 48 hour notice to use vacation otherwise I would do it too. We work with a point system and can't get too many otherwise they will fire us....no matter what excuse we have. That's pretty far to drive in this weather. I live about 20 miles from work. You have over double that. Have fun staying home. :)

I don't ever call in; I usually go to work even when I'm sick, so it is very unusal for me.

Good time to start. I don't usually call in either. When the kids are to sick for daycare and I work through anything but the flu. I started to randomly picking days to use up vacation time. I have a week left now. I use them to stay at home and sew or just have a day with my son while the girls are at school. The letter I got said that as of Jan. 31 they layoffs begin and they are permanent. So I have been taking mondays and fridays to have long weekends. :)

Sorry to hear about your impending layoff - I can't even imagine having to look for a job right now.

The day off was nice - but it's back to work tomorrow for me.

glad you had a good day off. I'm looking forward to the layoff....:). My job has become quite horrible. I'd like to stay home for a while and maybe work part time in town.
