I have one and the instructions said do not use cleaners as it will affect the surface of the oven. You should google and see if you can find instructions for your brand or contact the company just to be sure. Mine said it will put fumes in the food from the damaged surface. Better safe than sorry.

I don't cook; I can but I just don't. We eat out at least once a day. I dust my cook top. If & when the oven gets dirty enough to need cleaning, I'll prob just move. It is just me & DH w/very different tastes so this is much easier. Also, leaves more time for quilting. Try it for a week or a month or so & see if you don't agree.

If you know the make and model you should be able to get a copy of the manual online. You don't have to print it out just read it and see what the manufacturer says.

My daughter uses cleaner on hers in the summer because of the heat and used the stoves cleaner in the winter. She has not had any problems in doing so.

you can do it, but I would be sure to rinse twice, the next time you use the oven self cleaner, you might cause a chemical reaction

I'm late posting but be careful if the feature has never been used and its an aged product. I convinced my mom to do a few years ago and the stove was older. It locked and you guessed it she had to buy a new stove, it would not come unlocked

Well, I am late posting my opinion, but I have a 32 year old Jenn-Air (elec.) wall oven that I did the cleaning cycle on 3 nights ago. I clean it approx 3 or 4 times a year because it is a double oven and both are used infrequently. Never a problem with repairs. I set my cycle for 2 hours--as recommended--and oven racks are left inside. Also put my stove top gas burner ?grids? on the racks for cleaning at the same time. My instruction manual gives me permission. Yes, the temp does get very high, but the oven walls contain most of it, tho there is a vent that you can see smoke sometimes as the interior burns clean. I am not afraid of it. Agreed, it sometimes smells like a house burning down, but that's only because I spill a houseful of spills inside. I think this convenience is vunderbar! And yes, I have done quick spot cleanups with spray oven cleaner. Now, if it were gas, no way! But the electric cost for 2 hrs of 220 volt is only a few pennies...much less than my labor of scrubbing fingers to the bone.
