That is about the prettiest up-cycling of old jeans I have seen. (I ripped all the pockets from my dozens of old jeans and sent them to another board member. I guess I better sort DH's collection.)

I see jean skirts (rather long ones, and sometimes large-sized ones) in thrift stores all the time. These offer more usable fabric for such projects Some will make two aprons (from front and back) with fabric left over. When converting a crib skirt to a twin bed skirt for my growing grandson, I needed a little more fabric. I couldn't find any the right color and weight in shops, so I hit the thrift store and found a denim skirt that a perfect match.
