We participated in the Run For The Wall from May 14th through May 24th. LA to DC...no time to do anything but be aware of the motorcycle in front of me.

No quilting!

However, on the ride from DC back to CA I was teased all the way by billboards that said QUILTING this exit...

So not only could I not quilt I was left salivating by all these wonderful quilt shops throughout the country. No room to put any fabric and I am too cheap to ship fabric home!

Just isn't fair!

Maybe next time I'll have a motorcycle ride that stops at all quilt shops!

Sounds like a grueling ride but maybe taking 10 days to ride it isn't so exhausting. I am used to "highway hammer" where we usually do 600to 700 miles a day. I think my cross country days are behind me in that respect. I may have one more trip to Sturgis in me. Maybe when we retire and can go at a more leasurely pace. Then again, maybe not, the older I get the more I like quilting more than riding.

After two long distance rides with my hubby (3 days or more), one in 105 degree heat, I said no more!! LOL! I go on short rides but only on cooler days. He still goes on longer rides but I stay home and he calls and I get his motels for him!! (Chuckle).

I remember riding from Denver, Colorado to the Illinois State Line in the rain. What a ride! We didn't have any rain gear, but we had to get home. Crossing the wet, slippery Mississippi River bridge was a real trip. I wanted to walk, but was told to be quite and sit still. Now the bike sits in the basement....last trip for hubby was to Canada. I stayed home with the young ones. At this age, quilting is definitely my idea of fun. Loved it way back when.....Hugs

We were in Sturgis in a RV. I noticed a great number of cycles from all over the US and Canada that got there being towed or hauled behind RVs. May I suggest, ....

Love your ride. Miss our GoldWing but for sure had lots of wonderful times traveling the east coast and Colorado. Did the Rolling Thunder ride in DC too. What an experience! Loved it, rain or shine hot or cold. You ought to consider a cargo trailer. Unbelievable the stuff you can carry in there. you'll never have to pass a fabric shop again, haha.

While doing the "4 corners" it was always my job to find quilt/fabric shops to visit. Found some amazing fabrics! Almost every trip, I returned home to 2-3 big boxes of shipped fabric to enjoy as well as the boots of our trikes filled to the brim. I have loved reliving those trips every time I sew them into a top. Even when we travel on four wheels, my DH scans the horizon for signs of places to enable my fabric addiction. He is such a keeper!

BTW, we did the Ride to the Wall last year and the heat in the Pentagon parking lot was horrendous! You are made of tough stuff. It was an amazing experience and worth all the effort!
