tele marketers grrrrrrrr

I don't want to offend anyone, but when they talk so fast and I can't get a word in, I ask them, when I get a chance if they would die today, would they be absolutely sure of going to heaven? For some reason, they hang up so fast and don't call be back.

I get calls from the Diabetes Assn all the time and "they" tell "me" that someone in my family has diabetes. I tell them no and they just continue on. It doesn't seem to do any good to tell them I don't have any extra money to send them...they want to set up payments or call me back in a couple of weeks...duh, if I don't have the $$, I don't have the $$! I have used the "I've already chosen my charities for the year" so please remove me from your list. My calls usually start at 8:30 in the morning and go until 9:00 in the evening. I just put my phone on Mute so the calls don't bother me. Anyone important can leave a message or if it is a close friend or family, they have my cell phone #.
I would hate to try to earn a liviing cold calling miscellaneous people!

PLEASE....go to this government site and list ALL your phone numbers on the National Do Not Call list. Once on this list you do NOT have to renew it, you are always on it. The telemarking calls may not stop the next day but I promise it will soon be so! http://www.donotcall.gov/

I have been thinking about this & sometimes when telemarketers call & ask for Becky I just tell them she (me) isn't at home & I don't know when they (me) will be. LOL. After thinking though, I do rescue cats & try to find good homes for them. So the next time I get a call I'm going to answer the phone "Becky's cat rescue", we are a non-propfit organazation - would you like to donate. I wonder if this would stop them. The do not call list does not work & I have read that you have to sign back up ervery six months. So When they call you just answer the phone & say something like "Quilting Corners". Make it sound like a business number.

Exactly. What is to discuss? They identify; you say no, do not call again, then hang up the phone. Then go quilt or something...

WE have been on the do not call list ever since it came out for all our phones and we still get the calls. Anytime you purchase something somewhere I think they pick up the number and feel free to call forever. Lately, we have been getting some ridiculous calls wanting to sell gloves and so on for lots of money. Telling them to remove your number does no good and they usually call with a blocked number so you can't even report them. I just tell them I have no money and if it real important to donate I would do it in my own home town. Then I know where the money is.

I had one this morning that just wouldn't take "no thank you" for an answer...I have had the same group call about every month...and my answer is the same every time...no...
I finally decided to bend his ear....told him that the dog made a mess in the house and went on to describe it in detail...lol...when I heard him start to hem and haw a bit...I finally said" I have told you no, numerous times....if you call again, I will consider it harassment and report you.
He hung up! hehe

That is why I use caller id, if it is someone important they will leave a message, which I check for immediately. I have also had them send me a text on my mobile phone. I have unlimited, but for those who don't this can cost them a lot of money.
