My DH HATES to take the tree down (also hates to put it up) and procrastinates. I've been laid up with an ankle injury and can't do it myself. Also, our son got engaged over the holidays and the wedding will take place this summer. So I have to pack up his ornaments separately and it's a bit bittersweet to realize they won't be on our tree again, so I've not pushed to get it done. But it all comes down this weekend no matter what!

My husband and I take down the Christmas tree and put away decorations new years day. Lights come off the house the same day. Nice way to start the new year fresh and clean.

Ours stays up until mid-March. Family tradition. We like the colored lights during dreary winter months -- cheers us up.

All the decorations and lights are off, and so is the top part, but haven't gotten around to getting the rest down. Arthritis is really bad right now, so I can do only so much a day. Since I work full time with some heavy lifting involved, I try to conserve energy. Hopefully will get rest down tomorrow.

I hate to make this confession, but one year our tree stayed up well into February! Don't rememer why it took us so long to take it down. Maybe because I find it so depressing? Not to mention a major pain in the ---!!

Glad to hear of someone else who knows the significance of the holiday season!! So many people think that Christmas season is over on New Years day or even on Dec 26th. I was raised in the church where we had trees up in the sanctuary until the last Sunday of Epiphany. My tree will be up at least until Sunday afternoon!

Mine came down the 27th; I needed to get things back to "normal." I love to put up the tree and put out all the decorations and things, but like to get it all put away ASAP after Christmas.
