Love my iPad but I have not tapped into it's full potential! When my daughter visits, I learn more and more what it can do. I do listen to music on it and we take it in the fifth wheel when traveling so I can keep up with email and such. I would buy one instead of a laptop (and we've had 2 laptops).

Why did you prefer the Samsung over the iPad? Wasn't Samsung recently sued by Apple for "copying" their technology and I think Apple won the suit.......

I think you're right about the suit but when I was looking at them last Nov. I prefered the Galaxy. It also has a keyboard & I'm old school & prefered that. They may be off the market now. But since I have an Ipad I haven't checked. I did wind up buying a keyboard for my Ipad but its not the same

I couldn't find at first, then I checked under iPod apps (not iPad), and I found it.

I just ordered the Samsung Galaxy II 7.2 tablet for my Christmas present from Best Buy. I wanted the pretty white one with the keyboard dock but even though it let me add it to my cart it said it couldn't be shipped or picked up at the store. It worked out great when I continued shopping because they had refurbished silver tab for $169.

If I had been able to get the white I would have got the difference in price after Black Friday. They change any price difference for 30 days, and the white will be $179 then. The white was not available, I'm guessing it won't be till after Black Friday.

I mainly wanted one to read in bed without readers and do my Craftsy classes (although I already have a computer in the sewing room, and a laptop, but I'm looking forward to checking out all the apps since I didn't pay for a data package for my phone.

if you have gr children and their parents or some other significant adult has an ipad..."face time" is the most wonderful gift my son ever gave me! actually he is the source of my ipad. bd gift to enable my reading from the comfort of my chair rather than in desk chair w pc. and facetime...he wanted better interaction time between myself and my grdaughters. it is fabulous!

and now, to recently discovered by me, use w my quilting. when i have a project on design wall i take pics at various stages w my ipad. started doing thi s to save ideas as i changed layouts etc. it is, also, so easy to email pic to q friends for their thoughts on what is evolving on the design wall. then, working on d9p for grdaughter w lots problems setting blocks the way i want them ...doing it a little different from norm. the ipad pics really gave instant access to a camera view for things i miss w staring in frustration at design wall for hours on end. then..doing a scrap quilt from old new and older fabrics given to me by mil church friends. 2" finished squares. needed to prewash...bali's dark blues reds blacks etc. thought of several routes...long story short i made all the blocks. used ipad to photo before take down and wash ...those little color catcher sheets are amazing! so glad that i found out about them! after pressing the 25-patch blocks...set my ipad up and had the whole patch quilt of blocks reset in order of assembly. i don't do random. well maybe i do..i call it organized chaos...but it was important in my scheme for this quilt that it go back together exactly the way i had it before taking it down.

photographing quilts...w this website you can take quick pic of your quilt wip etc and post to site w/o going to pc. another site i am on i wish we had this capability. i might ask IT there if it is something they could do for us. most of the posting there is like here...fr portable devices like smart phones & ipads.

my son got me the newest model as of last may, for my bd. because of the new photo capability it has...he also thought i might use it for some of my photo taking...ergo he has, in return ), recieved numerous photos of cats and dogs in various acts of disobedience or cuteness. then one recent a.m. the sun finally came out to reveal the most glorious golden sunrise...out w ipad and dslr for pics of the event....the best pics came out on the ipad. i spent hours the other day editing those phots on pc. early early a.m. not enough ambient light and of course lazy me, used the auto mode instead of slr mode (.

bottom line...if you can afford it...get an ipad. it is becoming my most useful tool in the making & cataloguing of quilts
.....amd keeping up w friends w chat, web etc

When you are watching movies from Netflix (I've never even been on the site!) or where ever do you plug it in? How long will a battery last?

Thank you.
