I just bought a brand new range (well two months ago). The top is black ceramic and I thought this was going to be so wonderful. Maybe not so much, LOL.

I have bought a couple of different cleaners to try, but I just find the top difficult to clean and to keep clean. The kids are all grown now so it is only me cooking on it for DH but geeeezzzzz I wanted easy. (pout, LOL)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. What kind of cleaners do you use? Anyone made something pretty to cover the top while not in use?

I have had this stove in my last 2 houses. I use "Cook Top" a cleaning cream for smooth top ranges.
The real secret though is using a single edge razor blade stripper that people use to take decals and stuff
off of car windows. I put the Cook Top cleaner on and then take it off with the razor blade stripper. You
glide it across the cook top and it will clean off any burned on or spills that have cooked on and that don't
just wipe off with soap and water.

Thank you for asking about that and thank you KSellers for the tip. I am looking to buy one and had not made up my mind as I had heard they were hard to clean. Now I think I will buy one.

I have one and I love it. I use cream cleaners specifically for ceramic cooktops but have found that if there is a stubborn spot, a Magic Eraser cleaning pad works wonderfully!

I did all of these too. I don't use the top cleaner any more. Still use a single edge razor blade to clean away burns and spills. I then spray the top with Zeb window cleaner and wipe away with paper towels. This is a spray can window cleaner available at Home Depot and Lowes. My top sparkles.

I use Bar Keepers Friend cleanser. It does a great job. I would hesitate to use the scraper as, with a past stove, I notices some of the white spackle decoration wearing off with too much scrubbing with one of those green scrubbie sponges.

I don't think I would cover the top of a stove with anything. If there was a power surge and the stove accidentally came on, you might be in trouble. That's just me, but I'd rather be save than sorry.

I have one, and I love it! Easy to clean too! (It beats regular coil burners!) I use the cleaner for ceramic tops. I use a razor blade thing to get the burnt stuff off-but I wait until all has cooled.

I would NEVER go back to a coil stove again. I LOVE my glass top. I don't have to worry about grease fires or cleaning out mess under the burners. About a week after we moved into our last home, I was using the stove, stepped out of the room to get the phone and check on my son. I heard the fire alarm going off, stepped around the corner and flames were shooting out of the stove top and burning up the wall. I threw the phone down and ran to grab a canister of flour and threw it on the stove. It was a grease fire from inside the top that wasn't cleaned out by the last owner. I had never cooked on an electric stove, as my last one was gas. This scared me so bad, I refused to use it and we went out and got a flat-top that evening and put it in after I had to repaint the back wall.
