Tiling -- Interesting Geometry
My math friendly quilt brain just loves stuff like this!! I love tessellating designs and am familiar with the various forms of symmetry and some pretty esoteric stuff about geometry as it relates to quilting -- but some of this stuff is new because it is new!

That is a very interesting article. So many people don't think mathematics matter in life, but they are so wrong. Math is involved in absolutely everything we do every day. This shows a fun way to use math.

I have two quilt books based on Roman cathedral mosaic floors. When we visited Herculaneum last September, we watched archeological students painstakingly repairing a tile floor. Each piece was less than 2 inches across, with an intricate repeating pattern. The amount of math that went into those creations--my mind boggles!
I also drew out a pattern I noticed while walking in Sorrento. It will eventually become a quilt top.
