I sleep and knit hats for charity, since we share driving time on long trips.

We take a fourteen hour drive to Colorado from Illinois every Christmas. I take a book to read, a travel pillow and a blanket. My DH doesn't mind if I sleep while he is driving.

Crossword puzzles, read the map and drive my DH crazy so he would rather have me sleep!

If DH is driving, we talk and I watch the scenery. If one of the sons is driving, I try to take a nap. Tell them I don't want to see it coming.

I use this time to do the filling in of stitches on a needlework project or binding quilts. I did try to do some beading on one trip. This was not a good idea as we were driving thru a construction area.

In the four years we've been married, DH and I have one a whale of a lot of traveling and we go at the drop of a hat. Early on, I was reading while we rode along and thought what the part I was reading would interest him. Since then, he does most of the driving and I read to him. We have "read" over 200 books together and still going strong!

Sounds just like me, except for the crochet, but I do a little hand stitching (not too long at a time or I get car sick, from looking down) so I have to look out the window regularly between stitches.
