We all are hoping and praying that all of our friends here are not affected by the earthquake/tsunami that has recently happened. When I saw the map of the areas and countries that could be affected, I though, "is this going to be the BIG ONE" - I pray not. VanuatuJill, with where your homes are, I pray for your safety. Our DGS is suppose to fly into southern California this week, and I hope that the trip will be postponed for a while. - Stay safe, everyone.

The global spread of this is nearly surreal!! Thoughts to all that have been and could potentially be hit by a tsunami!! I am just in complete shock, but one of the times I am not complaining about living in the middle of nowhere, KY!!

Not to frighten - but from the look of it, we should all be prepared with a grab and go bag at the very least. Take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG87v9-ROfw

    Prayers to all.
We have friends camping on the Oregon coast. Sirens went off at 4:00 AM. They now have their rig on higher ground along with a LOT of people. The waves aren't predicted to be very big. Hope they predicted right.

Please keep up posted, Deb - I'd wondered if there were board members w/family in the affected area.

Just heard that Crescent City California had an 8 foot wave hit their harbor and damaged it. Took out a lot of boats.

This has been a good lesson for the U.S.....people thought the scientists knew it all and started going back to the beaches. They thought the wave would hit Crescent City around 7-8" and wouldn't be very high......

I find it so interesting that our news media focus on "fear" tactics. This earthquake and sunami have been devasting. Killing hundreds maybe thousands of people. However, the news media is only focusing on the Nuclear PLant. My husband is a retired Nuclear Engineer. There may be problems with this plant explosion but there will not be any deaths. These plants are closely monitored and there are solutions. Please, please, please don't let these nuclear uneducated media people scare you to death. Remember X-rays? Let us focus on the tragic deaths and missing people. Also, the survivors who are injured or who have lost loved ones. People that may NEVER be found. This is the tragedy. The Nuclear Plant is only one of the problems and it will NOT kill anyone.
