My husband was born in 1954 in Winchendon (SP) Mass. This was a major manufacturer of toys and so was nicknamed ToyTown. They used to have an enormous rocking horse on top of one of their buildings and Rick says it has been taken down and housed in some museum.

My hometown, Coopersville Michigan was the hometown of singer Del Shannon (whose real name was Chuck Westover). Story goes that he used to play his guitar on the school bus and the driver told him he would never amount to anything.

Molasses Flood. My grandmother was born in 1888 in Quincy(just outside of Boston). She told me about the disaster and said it was tragic for everyone. The molasses was hot I think and many were burned.
