Default Windows "Problem"

Got another of those "we have received a report that you are having a problem with your windows" calls yesterday.

It also had our name and number on the Caller ID window!

Actually, because my life is very mundane, I find these calls rather entertaining - usually they hang up on me before I am done with them.

But DH got there first and terminated the call quickly.

Let's see -

My windows are drafty - poor design from the 1960s
They need washing -
I don't like them - FIL did the contracting when the house was built

So this isn't about your computer? Or is this just your way of dealing with them, it's pretty funny. My mom was getting the calls because years ago she fell for the "Microsoft Support" thing.

Here's the thing -- she now has a Mac so no Windows. She finally went off on them and told them to go ahead and do their worst (in much more vivid language). Apparently "reacting like a crazy person" can get you off the lists!

It was - supposedly - about our computer.

But I'm an old(er) person - so what do I know about computers?

Well I thought Windows first. they wouldn't contact you wanting all that info anyway. spam big time I guess.

I got that scam call too. I also find them entertaining. He started off by telling me I was having a problem with Windows. I said no, my windows were fine, but could he come fix the door? He kept trying to correct me, but I came up with example after example of what was wrong with my door. He eventually gave up and hung up on me.

There are quite a few videos on YouTube, showing scammers getting scammed by good guys who beat them at their own game. It's so much fun to watch.

I went to Sam's last Fall and replaced my phone with 5 handsets & answer machine, I did not have the ''call block'' on my old set. I am having so much fun answering the marketing calls with "Could you pls hold for just a second ..while I block this call?" One guy said "sure..I'm sorry, what did you.....?" but I didn't let him finish lol. I'm laughing even harder when I imagine what they've said on their end. But it is so disappointing to answer a recording..I can only push the button! This phone even talks & tells me who's calling. Technology is wonderful.

I got the Windows calls too, told me that unless I upgraded to the latest Windows within 48 hours my Microsoft would be cut off. I have caller ID so I don't answer any # I don't recognize. Also, I already have Windows 10. One day they called me every 30 minutes. I tried blocking the # but my call blocking is now full. Anyway, they just use a different # the next time they call. My Microsoft never got cut off and I haven't gotten any more calls in several days.

This is funny. I am sending this to my friends. My husband likes to harass the phone marketers too. He got a call asking if he wanted to sign up for the "Friends and Family" cell phone program. He said he was an orphan and asked the caller, "Would you be my friend?"

The latest scammer I received was from a Tech company saying this was a curtesy call to let me know my annual renewal was due. They would be charging $399 to my credit card. Should I wish to cancel please call this number.

Wow.
