I have a Lasoo Poodle mix that is just perfect. She has enough poodle not to shed, and being a mix is not at all high strung. She rules the roost around here, but we love her dearly. she is a therapy dog, and gets to visit senior citizens once a week at the local convalescent (spelling?) home.

Please go online to Petfinder.org and look for a small dog. I have picked up my last 4 pets from either them or a local pet shelter. I have 2 very small dogs : Morkie (1/2 Yorkie and 1/2 Maltese) and a Mini-Pin/Shizu mix from shelters. Also have a wonderful cat and a mixed dog. Once got a full blooded Basset Hound from Petfinders. Once you see the dogs, your heart will melt. All of them will make wonderful pets. Right now the MiniPin is sitting across my feet and the Morkie is sitting in her throne beside me. They have babies, whatever you want. Just look there please.

I am a Maltese fan, have lost two, and now an older dog, 14 yrs, and yes a little puppy. Lots of energy at times but loves to be held and be a lap dog. We keep our dogs short because they are not show dogs, they are just lovable.

There is a shelter pet out there waiting for your good home. An older dog is also a good choice.

I agree! Bichons are like no other dog I've ever had - and I've had quite a few!

And Small Paws Rescue ( http://www.smallpawsrescue.org/ )is a Bichon rescue group so you can have a lovey, non-shedding, loves everybody, companion (as in your lap!) and save a life at the same time.

We have 3 Bichons, I do have them groomed once a month, comb sporadically in between and they look great all the time.

Good luck in your search :-)

We have had two Westies, and if you are looking for an adventure they are the best! I vote Westie! You won't be sorry! I have seen Westies on Petfinder.com. Check your local area shelters too.
