Well, I drove an old Massey-Furgeson Ford Tractor in the garden and old farm truck, have no idea what kind it was, but it had two gears. Low and lower! We owned a '53 Ford that I learned and tested on. After highschool I bought a '63 Mercury Comet and later in life I had '65 Satellite, too. it was my bomb ! she had the best rear end in it.......and a 383 that could not be beat. Draggin was so much fun. Daddy had me changing tires and checking oil, too, but I've never set the timing light. My ex husband was a '55 Chevy nut and loved Ford trucks. I do have a great love for OLD TRUCKS. Favorite is '49 Ford Truck.

Blessings,
Ruth

I was a "farm kid" and I don't ever remember learning how to drive, I just did it. We had an old '67 Chevy pickup with a three speed transmission and a hilly hay field. Dad sent us out there to learn to handle a clutch in the hills. He told us that if we could drive that truck in the hills, we could drive about anything, anywhere............he was right.

a 1972 Buick lesabre with racing heads....that thing would go! My uncle taught me to drive and one thing he did was take me to this huge gravel parking lot and make me do figure 8's. Then as soon as I got my permit he took me to the mountains and told me that I could keep that big old Buick to drive.....as long as I could make the tires sing through those mountains. I drove that car till it died. :-) Dh taught me to drive a stick in a 62 beetle with mudgrips. he also told me (wrongly) that I could not burn rubber in that car. Yeah I was a pistol back in the day. There's a 72 Cobra mustang sitting in my driveway now that belongs to my dd.....I get driving privileges when she gets it running!

1980 Honda Civic. It was a good car until one of the pistons developed a crack. It would die when you came to a stop. Since it was an automatic, it became an adventure to throw it back up into neutral, rev the engine or restart it & then throw it back into drive.

We nicknamed it the Car from He**

It made me distrust any automatic transmissions from then on. I drove cars with standard shifts for 20 years.

I learned on a 1965 Volkswagen bug. I loved that car and my folks gave it to me when I got my license . It was a great car. Now I can drive a stick shift with no problems.
