I have two :oops: . The first is a pretty simple white dress, knee length with a little lace edge jacket...not really suitable to cut up as it is such light material, this is in a calico bag in the bottom of my wardrobe. My second is a stunning, long, off the shoulder dress with a beautiful bodice and is a lovely shade of purple....has a veil, with flowers and I had the shoes covered in fabric to compliment the dress, this is stored on my shelf in the bridal shop box wrapped in acid proof paper. I wouldn't cut this up for the world.

Problem is...I only have sons (mine and steps), so maybe I'll have to wait 'til I have a grand daughter!

I do have a matron-of-honour dress, that was made for me when I attended my ex-SIL's wedding....beautiful rose taffetta....(horrible 80's milkmaid design)....I see a quilt in it's future...maybe divided between two....Though I haven't seen her for years - I could maybe send it to her, if it ever gets off the "to do list" - she's still married to the same guy - so it might be a nice thing to have?...

I'm pretty sure I threw mine away. It was a simple just below the knee length dressy dress. Not a "real" wedding dress.

I eloped 35 years ago, the dress I had made to be married in ended up being used in a dress for my baby daughter! We have a pic of her in it somewhere. Hummmmmm...........I should dig that out sometime!!!

My mother made mine - it was very pretty and stylish at the time. Donated it about 12 months later as I knew I wouldn't alter it to use for another occasion and thought someone else may as well get some use out of it while it was still fashionable.

I'm not sentimental about clothes. Getting married was the important part to me - not what I wore.

My daughter was married not that long ago. She would not have worn it in a fit (times have changed) even if I had saved it.

I dyed mine red and gave it to the Goodwill (1st marriage).

My mom had it professionally boxed up, and it's been sitting in my closet for 22+ years. No idea what I'll do with it (no kids). It's made of row after row after row of frilly lace, with a long train, and very poofy. I'm sure it's waaaaay out of style now. Not to mention that I probably couldn't fit my big toe in it! :lol: :oops:

I got married in a navy wool skirt (no longer have) and maroon cowl neck sweater --we "eloped" and had a small, very private (just the 2 of us) ceremony in the middle of winter.
I made a hat from the cowl neck, not sure if I still have it.

Not to derail the subject, but is there anyone besides me who wishes the old style wedding dress would come back? I don't mean poufy and frilly, just MODEST. I am tired of seeing everyone's shoulders and cleavage. That stuff is for when you are trying to get a man, you presumably have one as you are walking down the aisle, so cover up a little. JMHO, hope I haven't offended anyone.

After our divorce I donated mine to the local charity shop. Only have 2 boys, and didn't think they would want to wear it. :) Mum died when I was 12, and I wanted to wear her lace dress - only problem was, the ugly stepmother had burnt it!

my sister-in-law made mine in 1976. It hangs in the guestroom closet. I can't bring myself to turn it into something else...
