Mine is in the attic. I did not preserve it though. I have 8 daughters 6 sons and with todays economy I think it will be reused.

No way!!! Too weird. Reminds me of a mail order bride story. the guys wife had died but he wanted a woman that fit her old clothes so he did not have to buy new clothes for his new mail order bride. Too weird in my opinion.

I agree. Watching a lot of the wedding shows on tv, I also am a little tired of the cleavage! Sexy should be for the wedding night, not the wedding ceremony. In my opinion. But then, I'm an old lady and my wedding dress (40 years ago) was up to my neck and down to my wrist and ankles but I loved it.

When my nephew was married the wedding dress was so revealing my DH just kept his distance. He didn't feel like he needed to see that much of someone else's wife.

I wore my mother's dress. Our daughter wanted to wear it too but they said the fabric was too old to be altered.

There is really not much out there I think. Even when I got married, 25 yrs ago, off the shoulders was the thing. I found something that was supposed to be off the shoulder but I scooped it up and made it look like a peasant neckline with little cap sleeves. Not sure what my DIL to be is wearing but I think it will be sleeveless. I hear you though.

I left my wedding dress in an apartment closet when I left NYC to return to Chicago and a divorce. No regrets, though. :-D

I bought a dress off the rack and I gave it away later. My family gave me a check to pay for my wedding and it was up to me how I spent the money. I put the check in the bank and paid for my own wedding, very cheap! DH and I used the wedding money to pay toward our student loans. I have never regretted not having a big wedding or fantasy wedding dress. My girlfriends who did have the beautiful wedding dresses still have them hanging in their closets, well pushed to the back of it out of the way. One made a tablecloth from hers for a wedding anniversary party. She said it was the most expensive item in the room!

I met a gal from New York on a cruise ship. I told her "I think I just saw a woman with her 'mother of the bride' outfit' on". She told me she gave her wedding dress to a gay friend. It looked better on him than her.
