My first job was during the summer - worked in the merchandise receiving room of Sears - I was 15 and made a whopping $1.60/hour which was minimum wage back then... now I've really dated myself :)

My first job when around 16 was working in the summer at a candle factory, pouring wax or making the decorations and other things I can't remember, before that babysitting

At 14 years old --- I was a waitress at 'Uncle Hanks Pancake Cottage" in Valley Station, Kentucky.

Boy was it a 'sticky' job! ;-)

My first job was working in a chicken processing plant called H & N Foods in Van Buren, Ark. You had to have a strong stomach to work there. I only work there for 2 1/2 months but I remember when someone new would start and only last an hour before running to the bathroom and then quitting. We only handled raw chicken and made sure there wasn't any bones in it and made sure it weighed so many ounces. I really enjoyed that job. My Dad had made me a stool to sit on because it was hard to stand in 1 position for 8 hours a day. We worked in a refrigerator and wore blue smocks, blue aprons, blue plastic hair nets and yellow gloves, we looked like a factory full of smurfs. LOL!

First job, other than baby sitting my neices (and getting paid for it!) was working in the cafeteria at my church boarding school I attended. Made $1.90 an hour. Gained 35 pounds!

Then worked in a plastics factory the next year folding large plastic bags and putting them into small cardboard boxes. Years ago (for some reason) you could buy these at convenient stores out of a machine. I worked piece rate there and got promoted to supervisor. I was only 16 and a supervisor!
