Thank you. This is what I'll send my DD in memory of her beloved Boxer Sammy. She found him on a long, deserted Texas road, starved and frightened, and made him into a huge, loving beastie who was everyone's favorite. Unfortunately, Sammy developed severe pain in his bones and the vet and DD reluctantly decided that the only kind thing to do was to give Sammy peace.

RIP Sammy..go on to the Rainbow Bridge.

This sounds like a great idea if you would like to do that. The red rose sounds like a good idea too.
A card expressing sympathy would be nice.
I guess it just depends on what would be comfortable for you both.

If it's been 2 weeks, they might not be as receptive to talking about him as some suggest.

Depends on your relationship with the neighbors and how you think they are getting along now.

Maybe take them a small cake or other homemade item, mention you just learned about Bob. You can express your sympathy and mention you miss your dog buddy too....let them take it from there as to where the conversation goes.

Pets are family so I would treat it just as if a two legged family member died.

I received one of these when I lost my best friend. http://www.thecomfortcompany.net/Rem...ation-Kit.aspx

This is a really nice company. I bought an urn for them and they were really quick on shipping.

a friend of mine buried her cat in her garden so i ordered an angel cat little statue that could lay on the grave area. Later on my 17 yr old cat died and i got one for myself. I don't remember the catalog i got it from but it was one of the many i get in the mail at times.

Thank you everyone for all your thoughtful replies. I bought a small plant, printed out the Rainbow Bridge and framed it and also gave her a card. We took it over there this afternoon and I think she really liked it.

You guys are just awesome!!
