The only problem I see with buying things on etsy is that the buyer also needs a "store" name even though you do not intend to ever sell anything...just buy....while it doesn't cost you anything to make up a name for your "shop" and to buy things, probably some people would not do it for that reason...Naomi

I have one, started out slow, but it has picked up. One of my items was in 2 treasuries!! When I see a QB member with an etsy store I add them to my circle.

I joined it because my sister said it sounded good.....have not taken the time to really get into what is involved. Lazy I guess.

I just started one. Only one item on it at the moment. More will come in time.

I have 2 shops - one is strictly appliques, which do pretty good, especially around the holidays. The other one does ok, but I also work full-time still, so getting stuff on that shop is slower. I don't expect to make a living from it but sewing is relaxing for me.

Etsy has grown enormously in the last few years so it is much more difficult to get visibility. You have to be able to bring in your own customers now by using facebook, twitter, a blog, other social media, passing out your own business cards, etc..

My viewpoint now is that I have an online website hosted by etsy.com.

I have been looking for another similar website that is less populated but still gets traffic. There are so many now.
