I hope that never really happened!

As an aside, many countries do not distinguish between citizens when it comes to being allowed to run for office. I do find it odd, but not for the reason the student of the joke was thinking of!

That would also leave out anyone born with the aid of medical assistance such as hormone treatment, in vitro fertilization, surrogate parents, etc etc!

I've also kind of wondered about that requirement - that the person had to be born on USA claimed soil.
