I have almost finished 14 lap quilts for friends and family. I did have two selfish motives for doing this. First, I got a long arm last year for Christmas and wanted to get in lots of practice. Second, I had lots of scraps and wanted to get some used up. After I get the binding done on all of them, I'll post pictures. The nephews will also get some cash or a gas gift card, since that seems to be the main thing they really need.

Yes, I'm making some smaller quilts. Every year I make flannel pants for my little grandsons so this year, I'm taking all the flannel scraps and cutting 4 inch squares and making them each a lap quilt. I'm sure they'll recognize all the different prints from their pants from the last few years. Each one has a different color solid mixed in and I have embroidered their names on the solid color and also used for the backing and border.

I'm so broak if I don't make stuff(not all quilted)there will be no gifts to exchange. We will save the money for food and have a christmas feast! The day will be split between my family and Chris's family. we will have music and the kids will play and everyone will exchange a little something!and I will forget for the day how broak I am because I am rich in family and love:)

I'd like to but I'm not sure what I'm going to make. Everyone I get gifts for are getting quilts for birthdays this year. I could do purses or totes for the women on my list but for the guys..... hmm..... any ideas?

I always make something and buy something. That way they feel like they got both. LOL! I also make up candy, jellies and baked goods baskets to give to each too. It is fun and makes the holiday very homey feeling for me. It is a ton of work, but, I love it.

Last year the grands all got a quilted stocking with goodies in them. The adults got table runners, potholders, purses etc. So this year I think I will give gift cards as they all have quilts now. Maybe make a few quilted items but not many.
