I love making baby quilts too and got some great ideas from Eleanor Burns ...she has alot of good patterns and ideas on her site. good luck and welcome.

Hi from Western Australia. Try Jane Wickham on about.com she has some great free quilt and block patterns, including baby quilts. Just finished a "chew and spew" myself, and cheated slightly - bought a great panel (cartoon Noah's ark) and made borders in small blocks. Looks great and the baby loved it!
