I can relate! Welcome here! I live alone (daughter and family in other house of property) so my kitchen is my quilt room! I never have to put anything away, can see the TV by craning my neck and look out onto a horse pasture! I started like you - bought old, used machine (luckily it is a dandy), a pattern book, some fabric and off I went!

I retired last year and finally bought myself a sewing machine and a little bit of fabric  . My son moved out so I was able to turn his bedroom into a sewing room, but I'm sure its some sort of magic place. I could swear I only ever put about 2 yards of fabric in there and its grown all by itself . I'm really enjoying my new hobbie and I seem to learn something new every day. At the moment I'm pysching myself up to have a go at the one block wonder quilt but first I must finish the crumb quilt I started the other week, oh yes, and also the log cabin blocks, and then there is the scrappy string quilt, and the crazy patchwork wall hanging. I think perhaps I need some more fabric?????
