Hi Patti,
Hi and welcome to the QB. I would think about making a quilt using the school colors from DePaul.
Several additional thoughts:
1. Try to see if they have small flags with their logo such as a garden size flag. Then use the flag as the center medallion for a quilt for his bed in the dorm.
2. If making a quilt for the bed inquire as to the correct size of bed. Some dorms use the twin long size of mattresses. If your gs is very tall I would suggest to make any quilt extra long.
3. You may need to inquire with several bookstores in the area of the school, or enlist the help of his parents in your research.
4. Be sure to include a label on the quilt. You may also want to add his contact information on the quilt. I would also hide copies of each of these labels inside the quilt as well. If the quilt would be taken and the outside labels removed, the identity of the quilt could always be determined by a careful look inside the quilt. This would not be known except by you and his parents. A person taking the quilt and removing the label would never think there was a label hidden inside. Unfortunately these types of steps are needed these days and I just wanted to share my thoughts.
As to the size, I would suggest making the quilt extra long. My son is over 6' so I just recently made him a 5' x 8.5' fleece blanket to use when watching tv. He loves that he can roll from side to side and still has plenty of blanket as well as enough to keep his shoulders and feet covered.
Good Luck with your project. Keep up updated and include pictures if at all possible. We all love the pictures.
Have a Great Quilty Day!
