finally got the quilt top done for my niece's college quilt - she started Auburn University almost a month ago and I just now finished the top! The backing fabric is pieced together, now just have to make my sandwich, quilt, bind and send it to her!

Stephanie-love your niece's quilt, you did a great job. What is the name of the pattern? I love how you fussy-cut the Auburn detail for the center. Please post pictures when you finish quilting. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Thanks Jan! The pattern is called "Anchors Away" and it was in the June '09 American Patchwork and Quilting mag. The pattern calls for an 85 1/2 x 102 1/2 inch sized quilt, but I made it smaller to finish about 51 x 68, which I am glad I did because the blocks were tedious! I had to add an extra strip to the log cabin block because they did not measure the right size but other than that, the quilt came together quite nicely!

    Thank you!

Thanks everyone for your wonderful sentiments! She is my 1st niece (and nephew for that matter!) and she came to visit me a few times while I was in college and attended my college graduation with her younger sister when she was only 4 years old, so it is super fun to see her in college!

I've already told my other niece, who is a sr. in high school this year, to let me know when she chooses a school so I can get to work on her quilt too!

Amen! Her Daddy is a HUGE HUGE HUGE Bama fan...so much so that when he and my step-sister married, he put a picture of Bear Bryant in the wedding frame instead of a picture of them! Virginia is the only Auburn fan in our whole extended family, covering BOTH sides of it!!

Tried and true Alabama Girl loves Bama!
