Good morning from NC!
Good morning all! My name is Deborah, and I am VERY new to quilting. I just made my first quilt about 3 weeks ago, while on vacation visiting some dear friends. The lady I learned from has a real passion for it, and has made some of the most stunningly beautiful works of art I have ever seen. Her mother actually owns a quilt shop, so the talent definitely runs in the family.
I have attempted to start another quilt since I returned home, but it is not going so well. I'm still learning my machine, and suffice it to say that this quilt top will NOT be quilted.
I'm so happy to have found this group, and hope to learn much from other members. My attempted disaster did not lessen my desire to create my own works of art.

Welcome from Massachusetts! You are in for a lot of fun and great learning experiences to help keep your mind sharp! Your local quilt shop and or quilt guild can be a wealth of information. Happy quilting and look forward to hearing more from you as you continue your journey!

Welcome from central NY. Instead of making a first quilt, I made two. One for each dear daughter (dd). I learned a lot while making both. 1/2 of each look very bad. Seams no where near butting, ironing the seams open (as that's what clothing sewing teaches us) rather than ironing to the dark side, as quilting teaches us.
I still quilted them both. My girls still use them. Your first quilt was made with determination, love and tenacity. Your second one too. I hope you still smile when you look at it. You learned a lot by making it, and probably will with every quilt you make in the future! Good luck and welcome to the QB!
