Thank you for the welcome. I love the puppy dog quilt you have up for your avatar. Are the puppies applique'd? I am making my daughter a quilted cell phone case and am trying to applique' a cat (That I cut off another print) on the front of the case. Please tell my how you did yours. I have checked out several quilting books from the library but none have covered applique' in a way that I think I can imitate. I have already sewed the case together so I need to hand sew the cat on. Any hints?

Thank you for the nice welcome. My son and his family live in Ignacio Colorado which is a very small town near the four corners (in the south west corner of the state). The closest bigger town is Durango. I will be visiting there in the middle of April.

Welcome to the board..great group of people here..As for the applique...can you fuse it on with some wonderunder? Then hand stitch it down..or do needle turn applique..just add the seam allowance and then turn it under while you stitch it on. Be sure and post a photo of it when you are done..we love quilters eye candy here *L*
Happy Stitchin' Linda B..who lives the "northern-est" in Cal..I am 3 miles from the Ore border

Thank you for the nice welcome. I lived in Germany in 1952-1953. We lived on an Army base near Wurtzburg. I was there with my dad who was a career army man. I loved the countryside and the people were more hospitable than we probably deserved. I was only 10 years old at the time but I really felt horrible about how the Allied Forces destroyed that town and many of the people in it for no reason that I could understand. Very few buildings were left standing in Wurtzburg when we were there. No one wins a war. Everybody loses.

Thank you for your tips on the applique'. I am going to try to do the hand stitching on the cat. I will use a buttonhole stitch and see if that will hold it. I did remember to add the seam allowance. The cat fabric is cotton flannel and really frays bad.

In the picture of your quilt in this avatar it looks more like Holly Hobby dolls than puppies. Did I get it wrong the first time?
