I find this site very friendly and helpful.
I am from Portland, Oregon. Orignally I am from A Southern Costal town near Savannah,GA (town of Hinesville).

It's nice seeing so many from the many different states.

I just finished (completely finished) my first quilt. What fun! What frustrations! (ha).

    Happy quilting to everyone!

PATTERN-REALLY TOO MUCH FOR A BEGINNER--BUT I MADE IT THRU.

I'M WORKING ON A FAT QUARTER QUILT NOW.

Welcome to this quilting board. Boy, did you nail it - fun and frustrating. The things we do to ourselves!

I plan to stop in Portland on my way south in the next couple of weeks. I've heard there is a gigantic used book store in Portland. Do you know the name of it? Powell's? According to the internet, Portland is home to a lot of used book stores. I wonder about quilt stores. There must be a lot of them, too. Any recommendations?

    Hello!

    Thanks for the nice note.

Powells Book Store is in downtown PORTLAND. It is a large store and to really enjoy you must have plenty of time--lots to see.

The Pine Needle quilt shop in Lake Oswego (about 10 miles from downtown Portland) is just wonderful. I haven't been to any shops in the downtown Portland area. In case you haven't ever seen any of the
Pendelton Quilts--go to the MADE IN OREGON STORE AT THE AIRPORT.
THE QUILTS ARE LOCATED IN BACK OF THE STORE--they usually are
    mostly wool.

Have a wonderful trip and thanks for the response.

Welcome from Southern California. I have been in The Pine Needle Quilt shop and a couple of others in the Portland area. My brother and his wife live there and my oldest daughter went to college at George Fox University.
