WOW...now that is a small world. I have plenty of family just east of the Illinois side of the quad cities. I grew up watching tons of things from Circa 21. And my hometown is just a little ways east on 80. Small world!!
I also know where Amana county is. I use modern methods, but like traditional patterns. I'm not a big fan of triangles but will use them if I have too. I am having an interesting time with the top I'm currently on. It is a mesh of 7 pieces all squares or rectangles making up one large square. It is easy, but I keep messing it up somehow. I'm probably making it harder than it is. I've been quilting for almost 5 years. I am still very much a beginner though. I try and do the very basic patterns. Sometimes I think they are even prettier than the intricate ones.
