Welcome from OHIO! I prefer to take classes on line and there are some GREAT classes on Craftsy.com for beginners on up to experts. Once you buy the class you can watch it over and over if you want or just go back to a specific lesson and you can ask questions by email. I really enjoy the classes I've purchased there and it's great for me since I don't drive and I can watch anytime that is convenient for me. I also enjoy watching Jenny from Missouri Quilt on youtube. She has a lot of free videos there.

Welcome from Central California I would also recommend Craftsy classes. Again you can watch them over and over, back them up, whatever you need to clarify the information and youtube does have some great videos too.

Welcome from a different area of upstate NY. I'm between Buffalo and Syracuse. I'd recommend getting involved with a quilting guild if you can find a nice one in your area. Ask at local quilt shops (LQS).
